A Tasty Treat of the Arts

Day 1

Enjoy Breakfast at Harvest Room in Palos Heights. The group will be impressed with Harvest Room’s refreshing “healthy and innovative” breakfast and demonstration. The concept is simple: from the farm to your table. Harvest Room restaurant staff is a small team with a big idea. They specialize in familiar dishes made fresh with local or organically raised ingredients purchased from area farmers when possible. Harvest Room only serves antibiotic/hormone free, pasture raised meats, cage free eggs, homemade sausages, hand crafted teas, non genetically modified organism (GMO) canola oil, and organic extra virgin olive oil (EVOO). Your group will taste the goodness of Harvest Room, in their very own private room! Enjoy

After breakfast stop at Lotton Art Glass Gallery in Crete. The studios of Charles Lotton, began in 1970 with prayers and dreams when Charles began in his backyard, teaching himself the art of glassblowing. Today you can find Charles experimenting with some of the most breathtaking colors in the world. Watch the unique process as Charles, or one of his team, works on a piece of art starting with sand. In fact, Lotton Art Glass is one of the very few studios in the world to start with sand. Today Charles' works grace hundreds of museum collections.

Enjoy lunch and a demonstration with Chuck at Chuck's Southern Comforts Cafe in Burbank. Chuck Pine spent two and a half years at Topolobampo under the tutelage of Rick Bayless before striking out on his own, opening a small barbecue shack in south-suburban Burbank. You will treat yourself to some of the best eats in Chicago! If you haven’t been to Chuck’s Southern Comforts Cafe, you’re missing out on one of Chicago’s most inspired blend of Mexican, Cajun-Creole, good old southern cookin’ and the BEST s…l…o…w cooked smoked BBQ you’ve ever had!

After lunch it's time to experience Emil Stimple Straight Bourbon & Verdict Vodka at Frankfort Spirits at CD & ME in Frankfort. “Raise your spirits” in the Chicago Southland at a Frankfort Spirits tour and tasting event. Tour the distillery, learn about tasting spirits and what makes craft spirits special and then explore and taste sensational cocktails.

Verdict Vodka (so named because CD & ME served as a Will County court satellite site for many years) is made from Illinois-sourced corn. It has been distilled seven times with a double filter using a proprietary blend of charcoal. Emil Stimple Straight Bourbon is an eight-year-old bourbon, aged four times longer than most bourbons on the market and twice as long as straight bourbons.“Emil fills your senses,” said Frankfort Spirits head distiller Kyle Jomant. “When you smell our bourbon, you’ll get aromas of butterscotch, caramel, and a bit of vanilla. An initial sweetness is tasted and followed by a quick hit of pepper. Emil Stimple finishes long and smooth, warming you from within.”

“If you want something that has been mass produced and rushed to market, our handmade premium spirits aren’t for you,” Jomant explained. “But if you want something that has been cared for every step of the way, a product that has been proofed to perfection, a product that we’re proud enough of to hand sign every bottle, then Frankfort Spirits is what you are looking for. We are here to ‘raise your spirits.’”

End the night with Handcrafted Wine and Modern Casual Dining Dinner at Cooper’s Hawk Winery & Restaurantin Oak Lawn /Orland Park. The concept is unique - a signature menu with a selection of dishes designed to pair perfectly with Cooper’s Hawks wines, made in their private winery. The Cooper’s Hawk concept includes four distinct components: an upscale casual dining restaurant, full-service bar, private barrel-aging room, and Napa-style tasting room and retail gift store…all under one roof. Each Cooper’s Hawk location is distinctive in layout and décor, but carries the same warmth and elegance that guests have come to expect.
