Student Art Tour
- 9:00 a.m. - 10:30 a.m.: Lotton Art Gallery - Crete/David Lotton Glass Designs - Frankfort
Students will be amazed as they watch some of the most beautiful art glass ever made, decorated and blown in the ways of old. Each piece is an individual masterpiece, evolving from molten gather of glass, which is blown, shaped and created into a timeless art object. Lotton Glass can be found in the Smithsonian Institute, the Corning Museum of Glass, the High Museum and the Art Institute of Chicago. *Father and Son each have their own gallery and shop, tour based on availability. Approximate drive time: 30 minutes & 20 minutes (respectively) - 11:00 p.m. - 12:30 p.m.: Nathan Manilow Sculpture Park - University Park
Situated outdoors over some 300 acres, the 22-piece collection contains monumental works by many of this century's most important sculptors, including Di Suvero, Hunt and Puryear. Students will be able to walk on a path alongside the sculptures and experience the magnitude and size of each artist's creation. *Group tours by appointment; self-guided tours anytime. Approximate drive time: 15 minutes - 12:45 p.m. - 2:15 p.m.: Egg & I Restaurant - Chicago Heights
Enjoy American cuisine for lunch in a casual and friendly atmosphere. Specialties include 10 varieties of croissant sandwiches and 20 specialty salads. Approximate drive time: 10 minutes - 2:30 pm. - 5:00 p.m.: Tall Grass Arts Association Gallery and Art School - Park Forest
After browsing through an outstanding fine art gallery and an exquisite gift shop with highly affordable items, students can spend a couple hours working with the Tall Grass Arts Association art teacher, creating their own works of art. *Times and projects can be customized to meet the needs of your group. Approximate drive time: 10 minutes - 5:15 p.m. - 6:15 p.m.: Flossmoor Sculpture Gardens - Flossmoor
After being inside all afternoon, students can experience another unique outdoor sculpture park in Flossmoor. The walk will take your students through Town Square, residential streets and an award winning Sculpture Park. Approximate drive time: 5 minutes - 6:00 p.m. - 6:30 p.m.: Richard Haas Murals - Homewood
Park in the Aurelios Pizza parking lot and you will be all set for dinner. But before you go in, take a walk across the street to see the Richard Haas Murals. Richard Haas is a well-known artist, famous for his murals and prints. Look on the back of each business; murals of storefronts make the backs look like the fronts. - 6:30 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.: Aurelios Pizza - Homewood
Hungry students will appreciate eating in the world’s largest pizzeria that specializes in thin crust pizza and fresh Spinach Calabrese. With seating for over 500 people, Aurelios is complete with an outdoor patio. - 8:30 p.m.: Relaxation Time
Arrive back at the hotel for swim or make a stop at one of our Entertainment Centers and enjoy a night of miniature golf, video games and much more!
