Oct 30, 2014-Oct 31, 2014 - CABARET
Moraine Valley Community College Fine & Performing Arts Center
John and Agnelina Oremus Theater, 9000 West College Parkway, Palos Hills, IL
708-974-5500
Cabaret is one of the most famous and disturbing musicals in American history. Written in 1966, Cabaret focuses on the rise of the Nazis toward the end of the 1920s, during a time of German decadence. While two love stories unravel – one between an American writer and a British cabaret singer and dancer, and the second between an elderly German woman and the Jewish man she plans to marry – we watch the disintegration of the wild, experimental culture of the Germany of the 1920s and the rise of the Nazi party. Although greatly altered for screen, Cabaret inspired the 1972 movie of the same name starring Liza Minnelli and Joel Grey, and features well-known songs such as Willkommen, The Money Song, If You Could See Her, and, of course, Cabaret.
