Although we might be celebrating Mother’s Day a bit differently this year, there are still plenty of ways to honor the important women in your life. Whether you want to recognize your mom, grandma, aunt, sister or friend, the Chicago Southland is teeming with options to help make this Mother’s Day a memorable one.

If you’re a mom and are looking for a fun way to spend the day with your little one, register for a virtual tea party with your favorite princesses! The Tinley Park Park District is bringing the magic to you with this fun event, which features story time, sing-a-longs, dancing and games. Tea parties will take place on May 9 and 10 with different princesses in attendance. All tea parties will take place over Zoom and participants should be registered by May 7. Gayety’s Chocolates & Ice Cream Co. in Lansing will be open on Mother’s Day from noon to 9:00 PM as well as Saturday, May 9 from noon to 10:00 PM. Stop in and pick up some chocolate covered strawberries for mom! Get three strawberries for $7.49, six for $13.49 or 12 for $23.99. This strawberry special will be available starting Friday, May 8!

Give Mom a Break From Cooking

Plenty of Chicago Southland restaurants will be open on Mother’s Day and offering curbside pick-up, delivery and catering options.

Balagio Ristorante in Homewood will be open on Mother’s Day from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM for food pick-ups. Grab mom some crab cakes, pasta primavera or lamb chops romana. Balagio is also offering a Mother’s Day family style dinner to go. These packages come with a minimum of four servings at $27 per person. It includes your choice of an appetizer, salad, pasta, chicken and dessert. Please note that these packages must be pre-ordered. Wine specials are also available! The Barrel Club is offering "Mother’s Day Kits for 4" to ease the burden of cooking. There are two packages to choose from, starting at $90 plus tax. Packages range in options, including garden salad, sliced pork loin, pasta primavera, your choice in sides, garlic herb rolls and more. Be sure to check out the full menu here to verify menu choices. Chuck’s Southern Comforts Café is offering curbside pick-up and delivery on Mother’s Day. For $15.99 per person, you and mom can dine on pulled pork, smoked chicken, smoked ham and penne with vodka sauce. Sides include macaroni and cheese, roasted vegetables and smashed red potatoes with sage gravy. Chuck’s is also offering a la carte options to add to your dinner, including mini cookies or brownies, peach cobbler (3-4 servings), strawberry salad or garden salad. Cog Hill Golf & Country Club will be offering a wide variety of catered food choices that are sure to make any mom proud. This year’s menu includes appetizers, such as caprese pasta salad or chicken rosmarino soup, and entrées such as prime rib or turkey. Cog Hill even has an assorted cookie tray with dipped chocolate strawberries. Orders over $100 will receive a complimentary bottle of champagne! Cooper’s Hawk Winery & Restaurant has different size packages available that serve 4-5 people for $149.99 or 8-10 people for $199.99. Each package includes house salads and pretzel bread. Smaller packages come with one entrée, while the larger packages come with two entrées. Entrée items include soy ginger salmon, red wine braised short ribs, parmesan-crusted filet medallions and other choices. If your mom is a brunch fan, you’re in luck! Deja Brew Bar & Grille is offering a “one stop shop” full of delectable brunch items. RumChata French toast, maple-bacon burgers and chorizo breakfast tacos are just a few Mother’s Day menu items. Deja Brew also has drinks to go, including $5 bottles of champagne available with orders over $75. Forget to get mom a gift? No problem! Grab a bouquet of tulips or roses while picking up your order! Flossmoor Station Restaurant & Brewery is offering coconut shrimp, prime rib, pasta and grilled lemon pepper mahi on their Mother’s Day menu. Click here to see the whole dinner menu. If you decide to cook for mom yourself, be sure to at least pick up some pies from Flossmoor Station. All pies will be 20% off to help celebrate mom! Country apple, pecan, triple berry and more pie options are available. Other specials include $5 craft beer growlers and ½ price wine. Fountain Hills Golf Club is offering breakfast, lunch and dinner options for Mother’s Day. Some options include breakfast burritos, breaded chicken parmesan, veggie wraps, baked ham and a shrimp boil are among the abundant menu options available. Francesca’s on 95th will be offering Mother’s Day catering packages, with options to feed two people ($109.95) or four people ($214.95). Packages include roasted chateaubriand, your choice of three salads and sides and, to finish things off, delicious Eli’s Cheesecake served with macerated strawberries and whipped cream. Add a jumbo shrimp cocktail as a tasty appetizer! Mimosa kits will also be available for $29.95 and include Prima Perla Prosecco, fresh-squeezed orange juice and strawberries. The Odyssey in Tinley Park is adding a unique spin on their Mother’s Day menu, which offers diners a chance to give back while giving to mom. With every meal purchased, The Odyssey will provide a meal to local frontline workers. This year, the menu consists of four different options, including a kid’s menu. Each order includes bread, a house salad and dressing, entrée option, dessert and a bottle of wine. Vegetarian and gluten-free options are also available. In Tinley Park, Side Street American Tavern will be offering Mother’s Day family packs that serve 4-5 people. Prime rib dinners with Caesar salad, mashed potatoes, grilled vegetables and strawberry shortcake are available for $85. Oven roasted turkey and spiral ham dinners include stuffing, Caesar salad, mashed potatoes, grilled vegetables and strawberry shortcake for $56. Add some boozy carafes for $15-$18. Spend Some Quality Time

Even though we may be celebrating a lot of holidays differently this year, you can still enjoy some quality time with mom. There are plenty of outdoor activities throughout the Chicago Southland to safely enjoy.
