Fall Fun in the Chicago Southland

By published October 09, 2019

It’s here. The Autumn Season. That means it’s time for cool breezes, hay rides, leaves crunching under our feet, bonfires, pumpkin patches, apple doughnuts, Halloween attractions and everything pumpkin spice. Looking to have some fall fun? Here are a few places to add to your calendar in the coming weeks:

BENGTSON’S PUMPKIN FARM
13341 West 151 Street, Homer Glen
(708) 301-FARM

PumpkinFarm.com

Loads of fall activities are waiting for you at this fall attraction where you can pick out pumpkins on a hay ride out to the patch, watch pig races, visit the Fun Barn or Haunted Barn, do some gem mining, watch animatronic skeletons singing tunes, enjoy some rides and more. Try out some snacks, like apple cider donuts, churros, kettle corn, or something more filling, like Uncle Bub’s Award Wining BBQ, Anna’s Tacos or Home Run Inn Pizza.

ODYSSEY FUN FARM
18900 Oak Park Avenue, Tinley Park
708-429-3800

OdysseyFunFarm.com

Head out to the 15-acre corn maze and see if you can find your way out of the intricate design that spells out “Odyssey Fun World.” There’s a cow train that the little ones will love and a pumpkin patch to walk through in search of the perfect one. Try out hitting targetsat the corn cannons, the zip line or hay maze and explore the Kids Zone with inflatables and games. Grab a bite among the fall favorites -
smoked turkey legs, baked potatoes, roasted sweet corn, kettle corn and caramel apples.

KONOW’S CORN MAZE
16849 South Cedar Road, Homer Glen
(708) 301-8845

KonowsCornMaze.com

Spend a day at the farm on a hay ride, playing in the indoor play land or visiting the fam animals. The highlight are the two corn mazes - one for the serious visitor who will revel in the twists and turns of the 3.4 mile maze. The other is for young kids or the less adventurous ones who only need to make it through the 1/2 mile trail, but are surrounded by tall corn. The cafe serves up something for everyone - grilled corn, hot dogs, burgers, pizza, funnel cakes and veggie foil packets. Other food options include Lil’ Orbit doughnuts and soft serve ice cream. Purchase your hay bales, corn stalks, gourds and other outdoor fall decor here, too.

PUMPKIN PLAYLAND AT THE CENTER CHILDREN’S FARM
12700 Southwest Highway, Palos Park
(708) 361-3650

TheCenterPalos.org

Open on weekdays only, the Pumpkin Playland admission includes barn tours and a visit to the petting farm with cows, pigs, sheep, ducks and more, a straw climb, giant corn box, spooky wood shed and a crazy maze. Also open every day in October is the u-pick pumpkin patch where you can buy pumpkins, mini pumpkins, gourds, carving tools, straw bales, corn stalks and local honey.

FALL COLOR WALK
Sand Ridge Nature Center, 15891 Paxton Avenue, South Holland
(708) 868-0606

fdpcc.com

Take a peaceful two-mile walk and enjoy the fall colors along the way, including the sassafras yellow, black cherry red and black oak orange.
