Venue Spotlight: Southland Center
By Kim Kislowski published April 10, 2018
As one the premier venues in Chicago Southland, Southland Center welcomes sporting groups to take advantage of hosting their next tournament at the center, which is managed by the Indoor Sports Management Group.
Since completing a full renovation of its venue in 2015 and 2016, Southland Center features new facilities with a variety of options for tournaments, team parties and more.
Here’s a look at what Southland Center has to offer for your next event.
A Space for Every Sport
With 100,000 square feet of space, state-of-the-art Desso Turf and four wood-floor basketball courts, the Southland Center has the flexibility to host numerous events at the same time in a tournament setting.
Baseball tournaments take action on the two indoor Desso Turf fields measuring 111 feet by 185 feet. The fields also have two batting cages, located alongside the individual fields, and a total of six cages inside the venue. If you need lacrosse, rugby or football fields, the center offers portable goals to accommodate multiple sporting options.
Connect Sports recently named Southland Center as one of its top indoor venues for basketball tournaments. With two high school regulation courts and two college regulation sized courts, the center hosts the AAU and NCAA elite girls basketball teams for the Elite Exposure Basketball event with players visiting from more than 10 states.
For spectators, the center has bleacher seating that can accommodate 700 people with great views of the playing fields. And after the tournament is over, celebrate the players and your successful event at the center’s 17,000-sq.-ft. banquet hall that is available for team parties.
Southland Center to Host the American Cornhole Organization Midwest Major
The Southland Center is excited to welcome the American Cornhole Organization Midwest Major May 25-26, 2018. In its 13th season, the American Cornhole Organization will convene at Southland Center. Players from across the Midwest compete in this major tournament.
With its flexibility in event space configurations and multiuse courts, the center is the perfect venue to host this tournament. The organization and its players are set for a two-day tournament, with the winners moving on to the national tournament later this year.
