Celebrate Thanksgiving in the Chicago Southland!

Get ready to gobble up some fun this Thanksgiving! If you need holiday plans, look no further! There is plenty of fun going on right here in the Chicago Southland!

 

Gobble ‘til you wobble

Leave the cooking to the pros this Thanksgiving. Check out these area restaurants offering special holiday meals.

Pick-up a traditional Thanksgiving dinner from Chicago Gaelic Park in Oak Forest. This package includes dinner for 4 and includes oven roasted turkey breast, baked ham slices, mashed potatoes, stuffing, sweet potatoes and more Thanksgiving favorites for $80. Have Thanksgiving catered by Chuck’s Southern Comforts Cafe in Burbank! For $139.99, this package feeds 6-8 people. Choose between a whole or sliced smoked turkey, plus enjoy 2 lbs. of smoked ham, andouille sausage stuffing, smashed red potatoes, sage gravy, candied sweet potatoes, roasted veggies, cranberry sauce and, of course, pumpkin pie for dessert. All group meals must be ordered by November 22. You can also order individual Thanksgiving meals, which include all the fixings of a group meal, plus the choice between pumpkin pie or peach cobbler. The deadline to order individual meals is November 24. Meals will be available for pick-up or delivery on Thanksgiving from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM. To view the full menu, click here. Order a heat-and-serve Thanksgiving meal from Cooper’s Hawk Winery & Restaurant. Each meal serves 6 people and costs $169.99. Dinner includes butternut squash soup, house salads, pretzel bread and slow-roasted turkey served with stuffing, potatoes, green beans and carrots, plus Eli’s pumpkin praline cheesecake for dessert. Meals should be pre-ordered by November 19 and will be available for pick-up on November 25 from 9:00 AM to 11:30 AM and again at 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the New Lenox and Orland Park locations. Let Cog Hill Golf & Country Club do the cooking this year and order from their Thanksgiving To-Go menu. This year’s menu includes turkey, baked ham, macaroni and cheese, green beans plus more Thanksgiving meal classics with enough to serve 6-8 people. Cog Hill also has a variety of pies sure to satisfy your sweet tooth: choose between apple, pecan or pumpkin. Orders must be placed by November 22. Click here to view the menu and place your order.

At Flossmoor Station Restaurant & Brewery, choose between family meals with 4 servings or individual dinners! Each option includes your choice of roast turkey breast or glazed Black Forest ham, plus housemade stuffing, garlic mashed potatoes with gravy, green beans, cranberry sauce and a loaf of bread and honey butter. Plus, make dessert easy as pie this year by pre-ordering freshly made Thanksgiving pies. Choose between triple berry, pecan, coconut cream, country apple, French silk, pumpkin (with or without whipped cream), key lime or banana cream pies. Call 708-957-2739 to order. Dinners and pies will be available for pick-up on November 25 or 26.

La Voute Bistro and Bar will be serving a wide array of delectable items this Thanksgiving. This year’s menu includes a choice of butternut squash bisque or a side salad with sherry vinaigrette for the first course. Next, enjoy a traditional Thanksgiving feast, with an oven-roasted turkey breast entrée served with sides like stuffing, homemade cranberry sauce, sweet potato gratin and green beans. Don’t forget about dessert! Enjoy pumpkin pie served with housemade whipped cream. Packages can be ordered in quantities of 2 servings ($45), 4 servings ($75) or 6 servings ($125). La Voute will also be serving an a la carte menu. This menu includes mashed potatoes and gravy, stuffing, sweet potato gratin and green beans for $8 per side, plus lobster macaroni and cheese or a quart of French onion soup for $12 per side. Take advantage of the special Thanksgiving meal being served at J.J. Kelley's! For starters, enjoy a bowl of chicken noodle soup. Next, for the main dish, gobble down some roast turkey and baked ham. Choose between plenty of sides, including mashed potatoes, whipped sweet potatoes, macaroni and cheese, Mom's cracker dressing, green bean casserole, and brown sugar glazed carrots. Gravy, cranberry sauce, and dinner rolls are included. Don't forget about dessert! Apple crumble squares and pumpkin pie are on the menu. Get in the holiday “spirit”

Enjoy an exclusive wine from Cooper’s Hawk Winery & Restaurant, perfect for Thanksgiving. This month’s wine is “Grateful,” a 55% Riesling and 45% Gewürztraminer with aromas of lychee, rose petal, lemon, lime, orange zest and white flowers for a slightly sweet taste. Visit Flossmoor Station Restaurant & Brewery for some seasonal beers, including bottles of Oktobertrain for $8 or a growler of Gandy Dancer Honey Ale for $10. Oktobertrain is a clean, crisp fall beer with flavors of malt and notes of bread, while Gandy Dancer is brewed with a unique malt bill and orange blossom honey, featuring a smooth, slightly dry finish and a tasty honey flavor. Burn off some pre- or post-dinner calories

On November 22, join in the fun with Orland Park’s Turkey Trot! This 2.5-mile timed race will take runners through the streets, paths and woods of Orland Park. Awards will be given to the top overall male and female finishers, as well as the top three finishers in each age group and gender. All participants will receive a long-sleeved race shirt and will be eligible for a post-race raffle! Day-of registration will be accepted if space is available. After Thanksgiving dinner, head over to Homewood for the 15th Annual Butterball Burner on November 27. The Butterball Burner is a 5k fun run perfect for the whole family.
