#OptOutside on Black Friday by joining Friends of Big Marsh and partners for the inaugural race at the newly completed BIG MARSH BIKE PARK! Start the day by experiencing a walking tour of the park highlighting its history, ecology, features, bike access and discussion of future phase buildout. The tour is free and likely to include a walk around the race course. Then strap on your helmet (required for all riders) and race through the park on a variety of the expert-designed features! There are race categories for all skill levels (including kids and first-timers) with increased racing time and laps of an approximate 1.5 mile course based on skill level. Races are open to all ages and suitable for any type of off-road worthy bike (cyclocross, mountain, fat bike, bmx, dirt jumper, etc).

ABRAHAM LINCOLN: SELF MADE IN AMERICA

Last year the exhibit, "Abraham Lincoln: Self Made in America" came to the Chicago Southland Lincoln Oasis. The traveling exhibit was created by the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library & Museum to commemorate the 200th anniversary of Lincoln's birth. The exhibit features eight kiosks and covers Lincoln's childhood, the Lincoln-Douglas debates, the 1860 Presidential election, the Civil War, the 13th Amendment and Emancipation Proclamation, his assassination and other important periods and events in his life. This is a temporary exhibit, so don't miss the opportunity to learn about a famous part of America's history!
