Horse Jumping is a HIT(S) in the Chicago Southland
Witness the majestic sport of Equestrian Show Jumping and Hunting in the historic HITS Chicago-Balmoral Park. Located in Crete, HITS has revitalized this beloved landmark that hosted harness racing on its track for 90 years. The renovated state-of-the-art show jumping and hunting venue features nine competition rings, five for hunters and four for jumpers, including a Grand Prix Arena. HITS produces show-jumping events around the country in California, Virginia, Arizona, Florida and at its home base in New York. It produces three of the richest grand prix in the world.
Spectators can enjoy viewing the shows from the 4,467-seat climate-controlled grandstand or find a grassy spot on the berms or a seat in the outdoor stands for more casual viewing. Now in its second year of hosting show jumping, HITS Chicago-Balmoral Park is open to the public with free general admission for daytime performances and only $5 on Saturday (which goes to a local charity), with children age 12 and under free. Refreshments are available at the HITS Restaurant Pavilion and HITS Bar & Grill and a Vendor Row features dozens of shops offering quality equestrian gear, apparel, jewelry and more.
Whether you enjoy the thrill of competition, appreciate the beauty and skill involved in watching these stately creatures perform or you are looking for a unique day of affordable family fun, HITS Chicago-Balmoral Park is the place. The HITS season runs for thirteen weeks from May through September. Check out the full schedule at HITSShows.com.
