Chicago Southland CVB Awards Over $15,000 for Tourism Promotion
Grants will be used to promote events throughout the Chicago Southland
Lansing, IL The Chicago Southland Convention & Visitors Bureau awarded $15,572 to several local municipalities for major events in the Chicago Southland. The grant recipients were:
Party in the Park, Village of Orland Hills - $1,680 This three-day event will consist of the top bands from the state of Illinois and United States. The grant will cover 40% of the costs to update the event website and print 10,000 brochures for a direct mail campaign.
Sons of the American Legion 50th Annual Convention, Sons of the American Legion Squadron 615, Village of Tinley Park - $2,258 The Sons of the American Legion will hold its 50th Annual Convention over a three day weekend in June at the Tinley Park Convention Center with over 15,000 invited attendees. The grant will cover 60% of the cost to print the annual convention books sent to each squadron.
Tinley Park Golf Expo, Village of Tinley Park - $6,837 This is the 2nd year the Tinley Park Golf Expo is taking place at the Tinley Park Convention Center. The grant will cover 60% of the direct mail and advertising costs to help grow the event.
B96 SummerBash, Village of Bridgeview/TOYOTA PARK, Village of Bridgeview - $3,034 Last year, the B96 Pepsi SummerBash brought over 24,000 people to TOYOTA PARK. The grant will pay for 60% of the advertising costs in several print publications to help increase the audience.
Oak Forest Fleadh, City of Oak Forest - $1,763.00 The Fleadh celebrates Oak Forests Irish heritage and will include a parade, 5K race, open bike ride and other activities. The grant will cover 50% of the costs of the ads in local and ethnic publications.
The Chicago Southland Convention & Visitors Bureau developed the Local Tourism Marketing Grant program in 1991, and since the programs inception has awarded over $924,000 in grants to assist not-for-profits and municipalities in promoting their events and attractions. Annually, the CVB can award up to $66,000 in five grant cycles.
