Midwestern Amputee Golf Association’s All-Disability Open and Fundraising Scramble to Return to the Chicago Southland this September

By published June 21, 2021

Tinley Park, Ill. – The Midwestern Amputee Golf Association (MWAGA) will return to the Odyssey Golf Foundation in Tinley Park for their 2021 All-Disability Open. This year’s tournament will take place on Saturday, September 11 and Sunday, September 12. Additionally, MWAGA’s Annual Fundraising Scramble will take place on Friday, September 10.

The All-Disability Open tournament is open to men and women of all ages and disabilities. As a United States Adaptive Golf Ranking (USAGR) event, this tournament is expected to attract golfers from all over the world to the Chicago Southland region.

Established in 2001, MWAGA uses golf to promote friendship, fitness, fun and rehabilitation. The environment provides an opportunity for participants to share ideas, realize potential and forge lifelong friendships. MWAGA is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.

In addition to golf outings, MWAGA donates to various charities and provides annual academic scholarships to amputees and family members of amputees. In the past, members of MWAGA have traveled to Boston to mentor amputees impacted by the Boston Marathon bombings and to Guatemala to provide free prosthetic care and new prosthetic limbs to amputees.

“Once again, this year, the Midwestern Amputee Golf Association is partnering with the Chicago Southland Convention & Visitors Bureau in bringing our Adaptive Open Weekend here to the Odyssey Golf Foundation’s golf course in Tinley Park,” said Brad Schubert, President of the Midwestern Amputee Golf Association. “Our relationship with this outstanding venue is being enhanced this year by adding a fundraising golf outing on Friday, September 10. With this being our first golf outing in Tinley Park since moving our adaptive tournament two years ago, my hope is to enlist the help of local businesses to make our outing a great event and engage supporters in our organization and our mission. This golf outing is our only fundraiser every year.”

In addition to seeking partnerships with local businesses, the MWAGA is also looking for volunteers to help at this year’s fundraiser. Spectators are invited to attend the tournament as well.

“We are pleased to welcome MWAGA back to the Chicago Southland area. MWAGA’s All-Disability Open is a wonderful event, and we are thrilled to be hosting this tournament. We proudly support MWAGA’s mission to bring people of all abilities together to play the game they love,” said Jim Garrett, President/CEO of the Visit Chicago Southland.
