Harvest Happenings in Chicago Southland

It’s very easy to get wrapped up in all the hustle and bustle that happens in our everyday lives. We encourage you to take a step back, slow down and truly enjoy the beauty of the region. The farms are filled with family history and have grown to become Fall favorites in Chicago Southland.

For over 34 years, Bengtson’s Farm has been family owned and operated with superb care and it shows! Each year, thousands of people flock to the pumpkin farm to enjoy unique fall activities and indulge in delicious fall fare such as Uncle Bub’s Award Winning BBQ or homemade apple cider donuts! Some of the other fun-filled activities include the pumpkin chucker, corn maze, Bengtson’s Kid Village, Fun Barn, camel rides, petting zoo, the haunted barn and a variety of carnival rides. Bengtson’s is open daily from 10AM-8PM through late October.

FAWN'S FALL FEST & PUMPKIN FARM

Find the perfect pumpkin and create family memories at Fawn’s Fall Fest & Pumpkin Farm. Visitors of all ages frolic through the pumpkin patch, enjoy the hayride through the beautiful fall foliage of their working tree farm, stroll through the corn maze to find all of the secret spots, bounce on the pillow and moonwalk, visit friendly animals at the petting zoo and have fun sliding into the corn pit as well as other activities. They are open on October weekends from 11AM-6PM. At night time they open up for a frightful night during their Creep Hallow from 7-11PM. Konow’s Farm & Fall Fest offers endless opportunities to put a smile on your face. Get lost in one of two corn mazes and let the kids roll around in the corn pit. Other activities at the farm include an animal barn, hayrides, a straw playground, a pedal tractor track, cow train express, the grain train and for the braves ones; a mechanical bull ride! Konow’s is open daily from 10AM-8PM from late September through late October.

MCGOVNEY-YUNKER FARM

This 115-acre farm has history dating as far back as 1780, which lends to the ambiance of this wonderfully unique venue. Today, McGovney-Yunker farm is home to two of the most unique festivals in the region, the Farm and Barn Fest and the Mokena Food and Wine Festival. Mokena luckily has a pioneering past that lends a hand to creating an atmosphere that is sure to leave a lasting impression.Pick

Earl Hiller would be very proud of his grandchildren for keeping the tradition alive at Garden Patch Farms. For nearly 100 years, the farm has been beautifully maintained and continues to thrive! Priding themselves on sustainable and homegrown products, Pick. From ripe berries in the summer to crisp, delicious apples in the fall and a variety of fresh vegetables such as kale and eggplant. Grab a homemade apple-cider donut paired with a cup of freshly-pressed, unpasteurized apple cider that will send your taste buds in a whirl!

Odyssey Fun Farm is the perfect place to get lost in fall fun! The farm’s 15-acre Corn Maize has become an annual tradition for many families. If getting lost in a maize is not your cup of cider, wander through the 13-acre pumpkin patch to find that perfect pumpkin or enjoy the 5-acre courtyard full of family friendly activities such as the petting zoo, inflatable kids zone, corn cannons, pig races, cow train, hay rides and pony rides! Feel like getting spooked? Brave the Zombie Safari Ride as you are taken on a dark, winding path through the farm in search of the Odyssey Zombies! Once the tractor stops, it’s game on! The only way to stop the zombies dead in their tracks is attack with your paintball gun. Odyssey Fun Farm is open daily from 10AM-6PM through late October. Check site for special closings.

TRANTINA FARM

At the center of Trantina Farm is the Welter Barn, referred to as a beautiful specimen that is an example of the craftsmanship and pride of the community’s forbears. The nearly 50-acre farm has quickly become an ideal spot to host unique events and get-togethers. The Village of Homer Glen invites guests to take part in their annual festivals & events happening at Trantina Farm such as Stargazing, Homer Harvest Days and the Children’s Halloween Party to name a few. The southern portion of Trantina Farm is about 20 acres with a dog park comprising about 2 acres. They have a section for smaller dogs 30 pounds or less and a section for larger dogs. The northern portion is better suited for humans offering a fire pit, gardens, historical building, limestone trail, playground and more.
