Matson Lume believes that the arts plays a vital role in the health of our civilization, and stands with the poet William Carlos Williams when he states: “It is difficult/to get the news from poems/yet men die miserably every day/for lack/of what is found there.”

Forget the princesses you think you know – the original storybook heroines have come back to life to set the record straight. These royal renegades tossed off their tiaras to bring their hilariously subversive, not-for-the-kiddies musical to you – and what you thought about princesses will never be the same!

November brings conductor candidate finalist Alastair Willis to the IPO stage. Grammy-nominated Willis opens the program with vivid musical pictures from Borodin's 1880 work representing the Russian troops and the people of the steppe. American pianist William Wolfram then joins the orchestra for Tchaikovsky's famous first piano concerto, among the all-time favorites with audiences around the world. The evening continues with Bartok's dramatic Concerto for Orchestra, a dazzling orchestral showpiece that will display the IPO's virtuosity.

Sir Elton’s sometimes eccentric, always heartfelt blend of classical, gospel, and rock perfectly suits the sensitive and courageous Godwin. Kristin Chenoweth, Tony-Award Winner and Jess Godwin fan,  lauds, “I just love her voice… she gets it.” Godwin shines playing piano-driven, chart-topping hits like “Your Song,” “Rocket Man,” and “Benny and the Jets.”

Last year the exhibit, "Abraham Lincoln: Self Made in America" came to the Chicago Southland Lincoln Oasis. The traveling exhibit was created by the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library & Museum to commemorate the 200th anniversary of Lincoln's birth. The exhibit features eight kiosks and covers Lincoln's childhood, the Lincoln-Douglas debates, the 1860 Presidential election, the Civil War, the 13th Amendment and Emancipation Proclamation, his assassination and other important periods and events in his life. This is a temporary exhibit, so don't miss the opportunity to learn about a famous part of America's history!
