Smith Travel Research Report Shows Continued Growth In Occupancy for Chicago Southland Hotels
Hotel occupancy in the Chicago Southland shows continued growth according to a destination report published by Smith Travel Research.
Smith Travel Research publishes the destination report each month, compiling numbers and comparing them to the year before in categories such as hotel occupancy and average daily rate. According to the report, occupancy hit record highs this past summer at 73.7 percent, a 9.2 percent increase over the same time last year. The Chicago Southland’s average daily hotel rate reached $77.58, an increase of 3.3 percent over 2013.
“The hotel occupancy numbers are encouraging,” said Jim Garrett, President/CEO of the Chicago Southland CVB. “Our staff will continue to elevate our sales efforts to promote our meeting and convention space, sports facilities and group tour destinations.”
