The Lockport Township Park District proudly invites community partners to join us in celebrating Juneteenth: A Ce-Liberation of Freedom — a powerful community event honoring African American history, culture, and resilience. Held on Friday, June 19 at A.F. Hill Park, this free, family-friendly celebration will feature live entertainment, performances, food, and activities for all ages. Juneteenth, observed annually on June 19, commemorates the day in 1865 when the last enslaved African Americans in Texas learned of their freedom—more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation. It stands as a symbol of liberation, perseverance, and the ongoing pursuit of equality.
