Stellwagen Farm
Travel Inspiration
Take a step back in time and visit the historic Stellwagen Farm in Orland Park! In 1844, the Stellwagen family first settled in the Chicago Southland area after patriarch Philip Stellwagen purchased 80 acres of land in Frankfort Township. After Philip’s son, Mathias, was married in 1859, Philip purchased 80 additional acres of land with a farmhouse in nearby Orland Township. This plot of land is the present-day site of the Stellwagen Farm. Although the size and functions of the farm have changed over the years, direct descendants of Philip Stellwagen still work on the farm to this day. Tours and year-round events regularly take place at Stellwagen Farm, perfect for visitors of all ages. This unique farmstead in the heart of the Chicago suburbs is a can’t-miss while visiting the Chicago Southland!
