On Stage

If you love to spend an evening out enjoying live entertainment, you have a long list of venues to choose from in the Chicago Southland - from indoor auditoriums to open air pavilions to community theater to local bars. No matter what time of year you’re looking, you’ll find something to see on stages in our Chicago Southland communities.
Indoor Venues
From college performing art centers to churches to theaters, you can view plays, musicals, bands, choirs, dance troupes and more on our stages. See live music at the Lyric Theater, a restored former movie theater in historic downtown Blue Island. The Governors State University Center for Performing Arts, Moraine Valley Community College Fine & Performing Arts Center and Kindig Performing Arts Center all have large stages and an interesting mix of tickets to buy. In the coming months, you can see a wide variety of entertainment - The Shen Yun Chinese Dancers, Rosie and The Rivets: The Premier Retro Rock 'N' Roll Show and Darrah Carr Dance are a few. At Freedom Hall, you can catch a stunning performance of jazz, R & B, cabaret hits, blues and more.
Outdoor Summer Concerts
Summer is getting closer and outdoor music season will be here before you know it. There’s nothing like hanging out on a warm evening with a crowd swaying to music coming from a stage as you sway with the summer breeze. In the Chicago Southland you will find several venues offering free outdoor concerts and festivals featuring musical entertainment.
At Fox Pointe, music lovers are invited out for free weekly concerts throughout the summer season. Centennial Park West, Country Club Hills Amphitheater and Irwin Park Bandshell are some of the places you’ll find frequent live musical performances.
Find more live music at CD & ME throughout the year with both indoor and outdoor stages.
Broadway in Chicago
If you love a good musical, you’re in luck. See world class performances of some of the most beloved musicals and some of the newest Broadway stage sensations at Broadway in Chicago productions at the Broadway Playhouse at Water Tower Place, Cadillac Palace Theatre or James M. Nederlander Theatre.
Orchestra and Chorale Performances
If your musical tastes lean more toward classical, be sure to take in a performance of the Illinois Philharmonic Orchestra at Ozinga Chapel or South Holland Master Chorale.
