Synchronized kite dancing, 90-foot flying kites, and candy falling from the sky all set to music! Be sure to introduce your family to the same experience by participating in Plum Creek’s “Jammin’ Family Kite Fly Festival.” Members of the Illinois Kite Enthusiasts group will help to host a fun-filled day that will highlight the excitement of kite flying. Pack a cooler and come out to enjoy nature, fly kites and listen to some music. Bring a kite or purchase one from our kite vendor. Make sure to also visit the nature center to experience our kite display and take home a kite craft. Then get up close and personal with some live raptors.

We are proud to have runners come from all over the world to participate in this event. The Southwest Half Marathon & 10K is designed to allow participants to run at their best with a flat, fast course with only 3 turns. The 1/2 mile Walk, Run or Roll, coordinated by the South West Special Recreation Association for children with special needs, will occur on the main course immediately after the Half Marathon and 10K runners have left the starting line. The final run will be the Kid’s Dash Fun Run, sponsored by Palos Health, and it will include short runs of several different lengths for several different age groups with the first age group beginning at 10:30am on the main course.
