Does the winter weather have you stuck indoors and the kids stuck in front of the TV? Then bring them to Jumpfest! Jumpfest wristbands include unlimited jump time on tons of inflatables. Early Bird registrants by Dec. 3 receive a VIP wristband for an extra hour of jump time from 2-3pm. VIP wristbands are limited. Children 11 & younger must have a guardian with them. All ages welcome. Registration is taken at the door for $12 a jumper. No refunds.

Join other birders as we learn, explore and search for birds. This hike will highlight birds that live in the woodlands and fields of the preserve around the nature center. Winter is a great time for bird-watching. With the leaves gone from the trees, it’s easier to spot the birds. Bring your binoculars and favorite bird field guide. Participants will enjoy a hike of 1.5 to 2 miles on paved and natural surface trails across uneven terrain. Dress for the weather.

Cure your cabin fever with some winter recreation at Goodenow Grove Nature Preserve. Snowshoe the preserve’s trails or conquer its giant hill on a sled or a tube, and meet and greet Siberian husky sled dogs. Warm up by the campfire, and while you’re there, make some s’mores. Spend time warming up inside the nature center and explore the hands-on exhibits. Plum Creek Nature Center is open year round; discover what the winter forest has in store for you! Free! All ages.

The 3rd annual Chicago Southland Dragon Boat Festival will take place at the MWRD SEPA Waterfall & Park along the Cal-Sag, June 2, 2018, and includes practices, dragon boat races, music, vendor village featuring the Southland’s best food, craft beer, awards ceremony, and after party. The festival is now open for team and individual registration. Dragon Boating is an incredible way to build team unity, show community pride, and compete against your friends, neighbors, and fellow organizations and companies for the ultimate bragging rights: Dragon Boat Festival Champions.
