Lansing, Ill. – The Chicago Southland Convention & Visitors Bureau recently awarded over $9,000 to nonprofit organizations.
The Children’s Museum in Oak Lawn was awarded $600 to cover Facebook advertising costs to promote their annual Easter Egg Hunt for Kids with Disabilities to Midwest families. The event is designed for children who cannot successfully participate in community Easter Egg Hunts or need special assistance. The Easter Egg Hunt is free to the participating families.
The Mokena Community Park District was awarded $1,833 to cover WCCQ radio spots, as well as “Chicago Parent” and Facebook advertising for their 11th Annual Farm and Barn Fest. The event provides the opportunity to see and experience farm life through demonstrations and features music, dancing and old fashioned contests. There will also be a Country Concert and the 8th Annual Quilt Show and Flea Market.
Irish Fest at Chicago Gaelic Park in Oak Forest was awarded $7,500 to pay for a portion of “Irish American News,” “Irish Echo,” and ”Irish Voice” advertisements as well as design and printing of fest brochures. Held during Memorial Day weekend, Irish Fest is an outdoor event celebrating Irish culture and heritage and consists of Irish music from around the world, Irish dance, products, food and refreshments.
The Illinois Nurses Association will hold their 2015 Membership Meeting at the DoubleTree by Hilton Chicago-Alsip, November 20th- 21st and was awarded $1,846 to cover the costs to design and print save the date postcards, flyers and registration packets to increase attendance for the event.
The Chicago Southland CVB’s Local Tourism Marketing Grant Program is designed for not-for-profit organizations and /or municipalities for promotion of their festivals, events and attractions targeted to visitors outside the Chicago Southland region. Annually, the Bureau can award up to $66,000 in six grant cycles. The Chicago Southland Convention & Visitors Bureau’s grant program has been in existence since 1991 and recently awarded its millionth grant dollar.
