Olympia Fields, Ill. – (June 6, 2023) – The Lincolnway Special Recreation Association (LWSRA), visionaries in creating and implementing adaptive programming for people with disabilities, has once again been selected to host the 2023 Wheelchair Softball World Series at Ozinga Field in Crestwood on August 3-5. All genders will be represented in this adult division event and the Juniors will compete August 5-6.
“LWSRA is once again humbled by the opportunity to host such an important event, and we’re excited to welcome the greatest players in the World and the NWSA to the Chicago Southland,” said Keith Wallace, LWSRA Executive Director.
Founded in 1976. LWSRA provides adaptive and special recreation services for individuals with disabilities through a cooperative agreement with Crete, Frankfort, Frankfort Square, Mokena, New Lenox and the Peotone park districts in the Chicago Southland region.
The NWSA plays on a smooth surface by standard 16-inch slow pitch softball rules and has served as the governing body in the United States and around the World for over 40 years.
“We’re elated to welcome back the NWSA Wheelchair Softball World Series,” said Chicago Southland Convention & Visitors Bureau CEO/President Jim Garrett. “Keith and his staff are exceptional hosts and we’re thankful we can contribute to their success while continuing to promote the Chicago Southland,” he added.
For a limited time, select sponsorship opportunities will be available at 2023 Wheelchair World Series Sponsorships (ticketspice.com). The event is also in need of volunteers, please visit www.LWSrA.org/volunteers for more information. Fans are welcome to attend free of charge.
